Merry Christmas @SquidgyAsh and @CanadianNinja and everyone on Connosr!

Glenlivet 18 and Laphroaig Quarter Cask poured last night and for tonight (Christmas Eve) I think I'll be going for a single cask Glendronach.

@CanadianNinja care to share what it'll be!?

Raising a Dram to everyone here on Connosr, Have a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I do believe some Talisker 18 will need to be opened to celebrate with family and friends.

@Whisk, I opened a bottle of 24 year old Willett Rye last night. It was just fantastic, dark chocolate, well balanced oak and mint... Oh the mint! It's on a level unlike any rye I've ever had. As I commented on another post, I'll be very interested to see how this whisky develops after it's had some air. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone!!

And as the clock ticks down to Chanukah and Christmas, and probably other holidays I'm not even aware of, may your drams be special and your lives be peaceful.

@paddockjudge Happy Boxing Day to you all as well. My Boxing Day has just started. I will be happy when the kids have gone back home and the house has turned quiet again. Kids don't make for a good environment for whisky enjoyment. HA!

When I get back to the city, I think I will enjoy my Bunnahabhain 12yo, and 16yo Glenlivet Nadurra.

(So I skimmed the old Christmas threads from our various yesteryears' Yules and chose this one to resurrect.)

What's everyone looking forward to this Christmas, or generally this holiday season? Anything special to sip with the cookies for Santa? Anything special you're hoping to find under the tree?

For myself...

I probably won't crack a heavily sherried whisky this year, like I have in some past years. They always disappoint me. But, oh, what the hell, I might just open that sherry-cask Kilkerran WIP #6. That idea just occurred to me.

I will open all my Ardbegs for my club's December "Ardbeggedon" meeting, for which I've promised my buds that we'll have 5-7 Ardbegs on the table. Some buds are bringing others, but I'm supplying the Ten, Oogie, Corry, and Dark Cove CR. So I'll have all those freshly opened for Christmas. Woo!

And it's my birthday just before Christmas, so I might convince myself to open something I've been saving. Top contenders would be a Glen Scotia 22 IB or Springbank 14 Fino.

@OdysseusUnbound

@MadSingleMalt I was hoping to open the Oogie @Nozinan helped me acquire for my birthday but it seems I have 3 separate events to attend that day so my birthday is kind of on the back-burner. So I’ll likely open my Oogie as a Christmas present to myself. Or maybe I’ll open my Lot No 40 Cask Strength as a Xmas present. Decisions, decisions.

Every December when school's out my wife drags me to Calgary where her family gathers to eat a lot of food. My brother in law and I go whisky hunting to as many good stores and as many untried stores as possible.

This year the buying will be curtailed. I set a goal not to increase my collection of unopened bottles this year and with luck I will achieve it. Last year I overshot by ... eyes ....

As to what to drink, my brother in law is holding a couple of CS Lot 40 (one for me and one for him) and we'll probably open his (I've tried it already, he hasn't). He also has a couple of other things he's accumulated over the year and we will try those. Plus we might get a chance to throw 2 glendronach single casks against each other.

I'm torn this year - I will be opening a Benromach 15 as a present on the big day itself but don't necessarily want to open that yet; a) because I may have to share with ice adorning heathens wink and b) I've been a naughty boy lately and have more on the go than I'd like.

Still it is xmas and may well just indulge . . . I also have a recently opened Glenfarclas 15 that I wanted to air before the festivities (I've managed to only have a couple . . . several . . . well OK i'm down to the neck, but it's very hard to not pour another!)

I am definitely opening my Laga 8 and one other peated morsel, either the Port Charlotte or Kilchoman; or should I open one of my IB Caol Ilas? I need a lie down . . .

Decisions indeed!

@Nozinan Any chance of finding Glendronach 15 out there? It doesn't seem to exist in Ontario.

@OdysseusUnbound - out of interest, can you N Americans use Master of Malt i.e will they ship out to you? They have an amazing choice but I can imagine shipping costs being prohibitive if that is the case?

However, it seems as if the Glendronach 15 has been discontinued (for the moment)

@OdysseusUnbound

@RianC Ordering alcohol is violently illegal here in The Democratic People's Republic of Canuckistan. MoM won't even ship here. Our customs agents are very efficient, apparently.

@OdysseusUnbound - hmm! That is a bummer, dude!

The LCBO does have a slight mafioso 'ring' to the whole liquor thing. I suppose we are very lucky here in relation to choice of Scotch, at any rate, but we see very little of Canadian whisky or higher end bourbons.

Console yourself with the thought at least no greedy Europeans' lips will be quaffing all the 'dronach wink

@OdysseusUnbound As I'm sure you are aware, Canada doesn't even ship to Canada. I'd send you some fine BC wine, but it is illegal to ship it interprovincially.
