Here's wishing all Connosrs a Happy MMXI. So what are your plans, whisky-wise, for 2011? I have three plans I hope to complete: 1) a trip to Islay - 2) taste my 500th dram (I'm at 345 at the moment) and 3) finish my whisky book. What about you?

Happy New Year to you all! My plans for this year are fairly simple, attend Whisky Live London for the 4th year running, attend The Whisky Show in London if it returns this year, and sample as many new/different malts as possible!

Hello I'm WPT from Texas in the states. Pardon my for getting into your conversation. But I was reading a comment by "alanjp" and couldn't help but notice "The Whiskey Show". This must be very fun and tasty for attending. And if I could ask a question, what is something like this like? Thank you.

Happy new year all!

@WPT welcome to the site! It's worth looking through the WhiskyPod videos which were filmed at The Whisky Show this year. They will give you a bit of a flavour of what it's like to be at the event www.connosr.com/whiskypod/sort/popular/

@WPT Welcome! The Whisky Show was a tasting event held in London last October, and the year previous. It had some outstanding drams to be tasted, and was a really good day out for any whisky fan. @Jean_luc mentioned the Whisky Pod, and i would reccomend watching them as well, loads of visitors took up the chance to review a dram, including myself.

@OCeallaigh I'm working on a beginner's guide for whisky aficionados. It will be in Flemish, though, as I live in Belgium. There's plenty of fabulous whisky books in English already. My book should be ready by X-mas. Thanks for asking.

Happy Hogmanay! And once we get to it, Happy New Year! Here’s hoping it’s a damn site better than the last two years. As far as plans, we will see. Originally my wife and I were planning a trip to Islay where we were going to renew our vows for our 30th. Depending on the COVID travel situation, that may not happen and we may have to do something stateside.

Finger crossed!!

New Year's Eve Cocktail: The Eye of the Rye...sort of like a cross between a whisky sour and a Manhattan. Recipe from Liquid Culture (liqculture.com/eye-of-the-rye-canadian-club-cocktail-with-ginger-buckwheat-honey-and-sherry/).
