@SquidgyAsh Nice choice, SquidgyAsh! Enjoy.
40 years ago I joined the US Air Force on March 27. Great day for a whisky. Arran Machrie Moor here (but it's not quite the 27th yet).
And happy birthday, MJ!

@systemdown Hahaha yeah the Scottish Parliament has officially recognized it. I'm pretty stoked because as you saw, even cooler I won 2 free glencairn glasses!!
@two-bit cowboy That's awesome my friend!!! If it makes you feel any better alot of my friends in the US were saying it wasn't fair for them since it wasn't World Whisky Day over there yet, so I informed them that it was National Whisky Day in North and South America and that tomorrow is your guys World Whisky Day! BTW REALLY cool about it being 40 years from the day you joined the Air Force. Also it sounds like a yummy dram is heading your way tonight!!

I am drinking Black Bottle. I have never been able to find it anywhere but I am currently residing in Austin, TX and I finally found a bottle of it, so today I bought it and it is pretty darn good!

That would be Laph 10 Yo. Wow, my first World Whisk Day and my first Laphroaig. So much expectation... So much satisfaction.

Started off by having the last dram of Johnnie Walker Green Label. I also had the last dram of my Gordon & MacPhail Private Collection Caol Ila Port Wood Finish 1998 10 Year Old and I am ending the night with the last dram of Gordon & MacPhail Private Collection Caol Ila Madeira Wood Finish 1998 10 Year Old. Sorry to see them go, but all very good ones; especially the G&M Caol Ila's. If you have the chance to pick one or both of those up, I highly recommend them. It was a real treat to have both at the same time to compare side-by-side.

I have spoiled my self a little on this special day, with a (albeit small) sip of the Auchentoshan 50 Year Old 1957.

Cracked my bottle of Balvenie 21 Port Wood for World Whisky Day. Wow! What a finish. I could still taste it half an hour later. Also had a sip of the Laddie 10, really tasty and complex after sitting in a covered glass for an hour, and then The Ileach independant Islay bottling that I bought recently out of curiosity...quite nice, tastes like there might be some Caol Ila in there. I might pick up the cask strength version next time. Didn't get around to the Finlaggan cask strength, but I hear it is a very good buy for an independent Islay that is rumoured to be from Lagavulin.
