High West Silver Whiskey Western Oat is made by High West Distillery in Park City, Utah. The mashbill is 85% oats and 15% malted barley. The whiskey is unaged. The review bottle is from Assay # 10

Nose: Sweet 'n Sour-- some slightly sweet grain in the barn together with some sour new-make moonshine smell

Taste: very interesting, this does taste much different to me than other grain flavours. I do very much taste oats, and the oats taste very good here. This is quite pleasantly sweet--much sweeter than the nose and with only a very little and very inoffensive sourness from the new mash

Finish: this stays just its same sweet self moderately long

Balance: Wow! This is a brand new whiskey experience for me. Bring on those Austrian and German Oat Whiskies!! I am very surprised at how good, and sweet, this whiskey is, and how distinctive is its flavour profile. I very much enjoyed the Wry Moon unaged Rye Whiskey, but this High West Western Oat Whiskey is now my favourite unaged whiskey-- by far. This is a very pleasant whiskey drinking experience. If you can, give this one a try!!
