I'd go for Glenfiddich's bourbon heavy releases - 12 & 18. Easy to find, well priced, and with some good pear notes.

Fresh bourbon oak is indeed most likely to give pear aromas. It's found in younger Speyside whisky in general. You might want to try Balblair 2000 or 2001, BenRiach 16yo / 20yo, Glenmorangie Original or young Longmorn.

Personally I find the Glenmorangie 10 yr "Original" to have a hint of pears on the palate...Another fine scotch from Glenmorangie with some sweetness is the "Nectar D'or"...Those 2 whiskys will always have a place in my cabinet.

My wife recently treated me to a 24yr old bottle of Caperdonica, a beautifully mellow speyside with a hint of pears throughout.
Can anyone recommend something similar as this is a tad on the expensive side?
Thanks in advance
