The distiller is Irish Distillers (Pernod Ricard), Dublin, Ireland. They were originally founded in 1791.
The John Powers Gold Label is pale gold in color that starts with a warming taste and a feinty honey aroma. The flavor is clean and smooth with a cooked mash sweetness that finishes with a slight caramel sweetness.
This is a nice soft Irish whiskey that is pleasant to drink but I wouldn't recommend it as a special event whiskey. I paid $23 USD for a 750 ML bottle.
