@SafetyPylon unfortunately for you Diageo has recently decided that Mortlach is going to be their next premium brand ,which really means people are going to be overcharged for the product, for example the very average "Rare Old" has recently been released at over £50 for 50 cls ! I think that now is the time to steer clear of Mortlach as there is better value to be found elsewhere but if you must buy it now as prices will only be up on this particular whisky.

I was thinking about picking up this 16 year old independent bottling by Signatory. At $99 it seems like a much better value than the Diageo releases. What do you guys think?

@broadwayblue , if I were making an order from K&L, that bottle would likely be on it. 16 YO, cask stength, yes, yes. And single cask too, for those who like that.
You have to discount many of the reviews from those staff "experts"--especially that one guy who claimed that "you will never see a distillery bottling of this malt"—but David O-G's review, at least, indicates that this bottle has the typical Mortlach character. Without that comment, I would have been more leery of it due to its bourbon-then-sherry maturation history.

@SafetyPylon
18 YO bottled at 43% - $300
25 YO bottled at 43% - $1000
I would take a pass. LCBO has a G&M bottling at 43% for $213. Personally I think it's too much but better value than the other two.

Mortlach is one of my newly discovered favorites. the 18 yo and the 25 yo are now available for order in Ontario through LCBO's Vintages. Is the value there for the dollar? I really enjoyed the 15yo and would love to do a side by side tasting with the older bottles.
