- Brand: Islay Boys
- ABV: 46%
Nose: ashes right off the bat, and also an exotic, perfumed spiciness. Some fresh-cut cedar, a touch of rosewater. A complex, intriguing aroma.
Taste: fairly light-bodied and a bit hot, with mouth-coating peat smoke followed by some vanilla and lemon sweetness. Young and fresh.
Finish: predictably long and smoky.
Balance: just the right amount of peat for me. The sweeter elements are well-integrated and there's no clash of flavours. Comparing from memory, it reminds me of Bowmore Tempest Batch 1. I got this on clearance at the LCBO and I'm very happy with it. At full price it would still be decent but a little harder to justify.
