The Johnnie Walker Swing Superior is the ‘big brother’ of the Swing. The difference is that this one contains more Islay whisky and is bottled at a slightly higher strength. Bar a mistake on my part, this one is discontinued. I opened a bottle from the 1980s at my Keep Walking Masterclass.

It is a totally different nose than the regular Swing. This one is a lot more feisty on spices, peat and fruit. It is more outspoken, which makes it more attractive as well. Dark fruit, upholstered with Seville oranges and Turkish Delight. This is very good.

It has more oomph because of the higher ABV, but is less creamy on the palate. Having said that, it shows similar touches of fruit and barley sugars, but also a somewhat sharp edge that gives it depth. Could that be the Islay component?

The finish is medium long and surprisingly spicy.

Lovely old school blend that can hold each own to many a single malt, I’m sure.
