My friend, from what I've been informed by the distillery you can't. I've contacted them on several occasions and I have been repeatedly informed that it's pretty much available in Asia, specifically SE Asia.

I'm actually debating taking a trip to Singapore or Vietnam in order to pick up a couple bottles.

What a shame, because I was thinking exactly the same as @maltster. I guess there output isn't big enough to supply the rest of the world too? maybe they've become a bit of a victim of their own succes?

I recently heard from my local retailer that this was the case for Amrut too, that the wait for a new batch of Amrut peated was almost up to a year.

Ah well, one fine day...

@maltster From what I understand, the problem isn't so much stock as the lack of an importing agent. @cowfish might know more about it. He wrote an excellent blogpost about Kavalan (or, King Car as it's to be known at this end of the planet) here: bbblog.org.uk/2012/01/…

Thank you all for sharing your knowledge - I contacted the distillery today and they wrote back that they do not have their products available in europe but they are planning to introduce Kavalan to the german market very soon - that would be great!

The new make spirit coming off the stills at Kavalan must be amazing, given that the multiple award-winning whisky is only 2 or 3 years old - I don't care how good the wood is, or how sub-tropical the climate is, whisky that young shouldn't be allowed to be so good!

@systemdown Hahahaha agreed. I REALLY hope that either they get their distribution off the ground so that we can try some. I'm trying so hard to get it over here and having NO luck >< Frustrating!!!

@SquidgyAsh As soon as it's available in Germany, shall we order from a German whisky retailer? =D

The last time I spoke to people In The Know about Kavalan/King Car the hope was that we'd get it in Europe sometime this year. Unfortunately there are a number of legal hurdles in the way (as normal) as well as the fun and games with transporting whisky half way round the world.

Things seem to have gone quiet recently, which I hope doesn't mean that wheels aren't in motion, but hopefully we will get something later in the year. For now I have a 3cl sample of the Classic that I am eking out :)

@SquidgyAsh You do realise that you are closer to the distillery and countries that sell the stuff than pretty much anyone else on here...

@cowfish HAHAHA I do my friend, but my wife won't let me take a trip to Asia just for a couple (or more then a couple) bottles of whisky. I've tried to convince her, but she just won't listen to reason!!!

First off: I lived in Taipei, Taiwan from 1987-1993. I met my wife there, she's half Chinese, half Taiwanese. She goes home every year. Needless to say I have two bottles of Kavalan a year thanks to the situation. I don't know if it's worth a trip but it is mighty fine drinking. If you need an excuse say "Taroko Gorge" and go. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/…
