Finally, a chance to taste some new make, white dog, white ghost or however it may be called.

Distilled at 23-04-2008 Bottled at 26-09-2008

So technically, this is not a whisky. It has aged for 5 months in a bourbon barrel, it was bottled at full strength and the barley variety is Optic. Got it for only €6,-

Nose: fresh sweet barley and dry coastal grass, and peatsmoke... lots of it. Some Ardbeggian limetones too and overripe pear. Nothing complex, but the clear spirit at full strength. It never gets murky. After a couple of minutes a strange cinnamon spice smell appears, quite odd.

Palate: Undiluted its a big bang of alcohol, while not overpowering or harsh. Amazingly sweet and gentle mouthfeel at the high strentgh. I get mineral, chalky notes first, then a little teabisquit, huge medicinal Islay style peat, smoked malt, warm banana and bitter lime.

Finish: a short, peaty, grassy warming sensation, but no burn at all. After ten minutes, only the peat still lingers

This high class spirit must be at least half the reason the Kilchomans taste so good at a young age. Now I can imagine why no one thought about putting this in barrels for hundreds of years.

This could actually be the spirit that is in my Coull Point at the moment :p

The score indicates a neutral score because of the non-whiskyness of it.
