Does anyone know much about this new Distillery in Campbeltown? I've see a couple bottles around and am interested to see what people know or think about it.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first Work in Progress (2009). Then the second one (2010) came out and blew the first one away. At six years old it's a stunner. Oily, complex, a real dandy. We're supposed to get the 2011 WiP in the USA this month -- I can't wait. The price has been pretty reasonable too.

it's not a new distillery actually, it's just Springbank producing three different single malts, the other two being Spingbank and Longrow...they use different distillation (kilkerran should be triple distilled, longrow twice and springbank two times and a half) and different peating levels, but the malts are all produced in the same old glorious springbank distillery...hope that helps! chck also their website www.springbankwhisky.com

@lucadanna1985 Aren't you thinking of Hazelburn? Kilkerran is produced at the Glengyle distillery: www.kilkerran.com, which is also owned by the owner of Springbank.

@two-bit-cowboy ooooooops that was a big mistake, you're right, I mistaked the springbank-owned glengyle with the springbank-produced hazelburn! hard day at work!

@lucadanna1985 You know what's good after a hard day at work, right?

@two-bit-cowboy I made it up with a glass of springbank 10, just to clean my mind! :) and their 12 yo cask strength claret wood will do as a nightcap, won't it?

I like this series but I wish it was labeled more clearly. I think that color is still the only way each year's batch is distinguighed from the others, yes?

•White: WIP #1 (2009, 5 YO)

•Grey: WIP #2 (2010, 6 YO)

•Green: WIP #3 (2011, 7y YO)

•Yellow: WIP #4 (2012, 8 YO)

•Sky blue: WIP #5 bourbon or sherry (2013, 9 YO)

•(White again for 2014? Serge reviewed a port wood in April that he thought was coming out in May, but I haven't seen it. whiskyfun.com/2014/…)

Moving on. Does anyone know how to navigate to the Kilkerran reviews on this site? I can run a search to find some stuff but I see neither Kilkerran nor Glengyle in the alphabetical listings.

@OlJas it's pink for 2014. And again two types, bourbon and Sherry matured. I bought the bourbon recently, but have opened it yet.

Tasted the WIP 5 Bourbon side by side with the WIP 5 Sherry and the Bourbon is the clear winner of the two.

Looking to try the WIP 7 Bourbon as that has really good positive feedback.
