Okay, that Lingdarroch is distilled at Bladnoch has now been confirmed and my companion Anthony already gave me a second sample. This spirit now has already spent three months on a PX barrel. And judging by the color of this stuff, it's a very active cask.

The meringue and guimauve I had earlier have disappeared without a trace. Instead I now get some diesel fumes (delicious!), apricot pastry, hazelnuts and crème brûlée. Sultanas and milk chocolate with hazelnuts. This is very promising.

On taste it is a bomb. Very spicy, very smoky and warm with a nice panoply of yellow and orange fruit. Orange, apricot, peach. The baker's spices make it almost spicy. And the new make-y notes I had in the previous sample... completely disappeared and completely wrapped by the PX.

The finish is long, warm, smoky, sweet and very tasty.

Anthony, nice stuff indeed. But... this isn't even a year old, right? I am not convinced that the spirit will last much longer on this active PX cask. Something to think about.
