HELP NEEDED: I will not be able to attend the Whisky Festival in London, but would really like to get my hands on one (or two or even three) bottles of Highland Park 10 Year Old that is being specially bottled for this event. You can even pre-order it on their site. Naturally, I will pay for the purchase and the shipping. Can anybody help? Please, please, pretty please?

Which festival exactly are you talking about? I've googled "London Whisky Festival" and it brought back a number of results. Do you mean the Whisky Live show? www.whiskylive.com

Stu_R, that would be awesome! You would be my best friend forever (or at least quite a while) :-) If you know someone who is able to go (if you cannot make it yourself), the bottles can be pre-ordered online and your friend can pick them up as well. I'm sorry to be so shameless about this, but I truly want those bottles, but cannot make it myself. Thanks for trying!

@markjedi1 @Stu_R Guys this is what this site is all about! BTW you guys both reviewed the same whisky today. I know this from the rather cool new "Right now on Connosr..." feature on the homepage.

Not a problem and dont be sorry marm, I quite understand the desire for a particular whisky. I also want to try this particular bottling and have a feeling it will be rather good. I will let you know as soon as I can.

Following on... Anyone have any recommendations for what to look out for at Whisky Live in London next weekend? Be nice to try the Rollercoaster there, but would love to know about any more excitings in the whisky world of late.

I would like to thank StuR, who just got in touch with me to tell me he's going to be able to help me out with my three bottles. I love this forum!

Just a short message to wish Stu_R (and anyone else who is going) a blast at the London Whisky Festival this coming weekend. Enjoy yourself, but keep safe. Be smart: get drunk and driven.

Thanks Mark, the fiancee is joining me so there will be less of the "drunk" and more of the "safe". At least that way your bottles will stay likewise.....safe ;-)

@Stu_R you'll be about there tomorrow? Look out for a 6 foot shiny headed man with beard & whisky in hand.

Did anyone other than myself enjoy Whisky Live in London this weekend? I managed to plough through 18 drams.

I certainly enjoyed myself. Tried a few very fine drams and, along with my fiancée ended up being pulled to the front by Richard Paterson during an impromptu crowd tasting of the Whyte and Mackay 30yo.....lots of fun. Thanks to all who when prompted gave us a big slainte and congratulations. I think my highlight was a rather interesting and very citrusy 1972 Glen Grant by Berry Bros and the excellent Highland Park 10yo festival bottling. Headed over to Salt Bar for a nice drop of Port Ellen and some great food after the show.

Oh, you make me green with envy. Next year, I'm going to try to go myself. Sounds like it was much better than the Festival in Gent. And thanks, @Stu_R, for the wonderful news that you were able to bring my HP 10 year old bottles. Very much looking forward to those!

Yes, had a great time too, ended up trying some very interesting "bottles". Mostly ended up hanging out at the Nikka/Mackmyra/Compass Box stand, as been meaning to try some of them for a while...

Bottles of note for me were:

  • "Heavily Peated" over at the Yamazaki stand - I have this down as a Hakushu? Coming out in Europe in summer, though not many bottles.
  • Compass Box's special Decadence "bottle" for their 10 year anniversary, and some "Lady Luck": see img.ly/z9r
  • Taketsuru 17yr
  • Bain's South African Grain Whiskey - hey, this stuff is pretty good :)

Some really interesting moves in the whisky market going on. Looks like the next few years should be very interesting/exciting...
