Longmorn 15 Year Old 2005 They Inspired

On 13th December 2020 I took part in the Online Christmas Tasting by the Dutch Connection, under the guidance of Michiel Wigman and my Catawiki co-worker Jeroen Koetsier. This Longmorn was one of the highlights and that’s saying something, knowing that all the drams were top notch. They Inspired is a series with world famous people on the label – designed beautifully by Hans Dilesse – that changed the course of history. For this 15 years old Longmorn it is none other than John F. Kennedy.

My god! What a nose… a mix of broth and cola candy, caramel and cranberry jam. Tobacco leaves. Very juicy, mind you. Some school chalk, a new leather saddle, plums, dates and chicory. Very nice and complex.

It sticks to the teeth like syrup. On the palate it is again an explosion of dark fruit and feisty spices. Cola candy, beef jerky, dried red fruit, chili pepper and green garden herbs. Cold espresso with chocolate shaving. Mighty.

Long, satisfying finish in which mostly the spices shine: cloves, cinnamon, pepper. Some orange marmalade with an uplift of menthol at the death.

A future classic, if you ask me. The price tag of 220 EUR is certainly not cheap, but what a whisky!
