Mackmyra Malstrom

Those clever Swedes know how to make safe cars and good Whisky. I have tried several of the Mackmyra expressions but this is my first "moment". This is the 16th of the range and is bottled at 46.4% and as is their way has no E150 colouring (thankfully).

The nose is spicy, dried fruit, sweet, oak and a faint wisp of sweet smoke.

The palate zings with spiced dried fruits mellowing with very subtle soft sweet smoke, vanilla, possibly sherry & butterscotch. It is soft in the mouth and rich.

The finish is spicy, pepper on the tip if the tongue and mouthwatering fruitiness.

Verdict - This is very well made, great flavours. lovely balance. Spot on.
