This is for my bucket list, I wanted to taste an extremely old whisky and for the price of a sample I couldn’t pass this up the Master of Malt 50 year old 3cl. Right when I received the package I was eager to open this up and try it.............. took me a month!

Nose: Floral Spice like an outdoor spice market, Wow this has depth! Ripe berries; handpicked right from the stem. There is a wood smell, literally 50+ years old like old wooden chairs that were stored away in an attic by your great grandparents and recently found. Mellow honey and sherry, there is shoe polish smell developing, old vintage leather. This nose is alive and not mellowed by the age. A peach and grapefruit aroma develops with hints of vanilla candle and flowers, whispers of cigar leaves appear after taking a sip.

Taste: Syrup, tobacco, cigar, honey, cinnamon, spice, weird but a hint of marijuana influence…..wow! This is the complexity I have been looking for!

Finish: Warm, medium to long finish, the finish wraps up with sweet smoke and tobacco that’s in the background. Gorgeous!

Final Thought: This whisky is graceful! Definitely was able to check this moment off my bucket list. The bottle of this fantastic whisky is $600, a fair price, but still very expensive for most. Maybe one day I will purchase an old bottle like this…….…but not before I sample it.

It is a speyside single malt from their Secret Bottling Series. Unfortunately I do not know, but it is superb.
