Sounds very interesting, especially when you try different maturing timespans, temperatures, humidity, ...
But I don't get the point why they won't tell which distillery the New Make came from...

Just been checking them out, gone straight to the top of my shopping list. I spotted a set of 3 new make spirits from glenglassaugh which should make for an interesting experiment also. They are bottled at 50% so I am not quite sure if that is strong enough though, what do you think? The new make provided is quite a bit higher proof.

Just spotted a set of 3 different new makes from buffalo trace called White Dog, could be fun messing around with those too. I am begining to wonder if a few more distilleries might start selling bottles of new make in the future if the concept of making your own whisky takes off. They could even supply us with little casks - who knows? Imagine some new make laphroaig and a little 1 litre sherry treated cask....... who wouldnt fancy giving that a go?

The folks from Wasmund's also do kits and I've grabbed one. I'm trying to work out whether to put the rye whiskey that comes in my kit into the barrel first or trying something else to season it. I see a lot of 'oak aged vodka' in my future in an attempt to temper the barrel before I start playing with ageing cocktails...
And a note to those who work in retail - don't publicise a thing you want to buy on Facebook before making sure you've bought one yourself. They run out quite quickly once FB gets hold of them... :)

This looks like fun masterofmalt.com/Spirit/… comes with a mini barrel (freshly toasted Kentucky Oak) and 100cl of new make malt spirit.
Well its on my Christmas list :)
