Happy Christmas to all of you on Connosr! Looking forward to seeing you @jeanluc - hopefully you'll be bringing something nice with you!
Every year I like to have a bottle available to my guests - whether they are seriously into whisky or not - which is pleasing to them without "endangering" my cabinet. This year's "general consumption dram" is Lagavulin 16. A fine whisky, good enough to please the malt heads, widely available enough not to worry me ;)

Merry Christmas to all of you. I started with one of my staple malts. Bunnahahain 12, and am now sipping Glenglassaugh 26. Some Caol Ila 25 to come later.

Happy holidays Connosrs. My parents were wise to only wrap only one of my bottles of whiskies they gave me to put under the tree. My brothers would have opened the others if they were there. HA. As for Pierre_W, I can relate, a bit, the whisky I unwrapped today was a bottle of 12yo Bunnahabhain. One of my favorite drams, especially during the wintery holiday.
Wish you all a very whisky season!
PS. The other 2 bottles I look forward to stuck in, 16yo Glenlivet Nadurra.
乾杯!

@mystycreek
16yo Glen Grant, sounds like a good dram to enjoy!
I am also glad to see that Connosr is language friendly.

かんぱい!indeed, @ajjarrett! My Japanese whisky cabinet is pretty empty, otherwise I would have added a Japanese malt. Happy Holidays!

Working through my brother-in-law's whisky cabinet and it's standing up pretty well

@Pierre_W Yes, one new years wish is to have more Japanese whisky available, and affordable.

@Pierre_W Which Japanese whiskies would you want to stock your shelves with? (Within reason of course).

Hi ajjarrett, it would be good to get at least one bottle of Yamazaki 18yo, if at all possible. Also, I would want to get a Hakushu 12yo and some Nikka From the Barrel. I am not too fond of the NAS versions of Yoichi and Miyagikyo that were launched in 2015.

@Pierre_W my younger brother is going to visit Yamazaki Distillery next March, envy he can taste all the goodies(but Yamazaki 25yo seemed to be taken out of the charged tasting). Wish he can mule some good bourbons and Japanese whiskies for me.

Thanks @mistycreek. I have been to Yamazaki distillery a few times. The last time in December 2015 the 18yo could be sampled but was not available for sale. The 25yo was "sold out". Too bad that a lot of the good stuff appears to be gone now.

@Pierre_W it seems you're right, 25yo was sold out not taken out of the sample list, but I'm quite pessimistic about it to be available again in the future. Yamazaki must be your true love to keep you coming back.

@Pierre_W I haven't been to the Yamazaki Distillery yet, but I did have the opportunity to go to the Hakushu Distillery in February.
Well, the time zone I am in, Boxing Day has just started, so "Happy Boxing Day" everyone.
I am a bit more fond of Yamazaki (between the two Suntory Single Malt distilleries). I haven't had a taste of the 25yo, but I do enjoy both the 18yo and 12yo. They all have their own enjoyable 'personalities.'
I like the Miyagikyo NAS a bit more than the Yoichi. Unfortunately, the aged stated expressions of those to Nikka whiskies are virtually impossible to find. It was difficult to find any when I went to Tokyo earlier this year. When I did find it, it was simply out of my budget. I just ended up going to Nikka's Toky headquarters and hung out at the Nikka Blender's Bar, which is located near Omotesando Station.
Oh how I wish I had a bigger budget.
Happy Boxing Day to you all. かんぱい

How are you celebrating? What are you sipping?
I'll be joining @pierre tomorrow and we'll be raising a glass or two of something nice. Wherever you are in the world – have a very merry Christmas – have fun and be safe.
