Ah, Milk & Honey, our friends from Israel. They are getting better and better, it must be said. Recently I was at a tasting in Hoogstraten, organized by our friend Tom from Buds & Barrels, where Oded Weiss came all the way from Tel Aviv and guided us through the range of Milk & Honey. One of the bottles we got to taste that night was this brand new 3-year-old. It is a single cask that was bottled exclusively for the Benelux. STR stands for Shaved, Toasted & Re-charred, an invention of the late Dr Jim Swam.

On the nose I get a nice panoply of wild honey, vanilla pudding, eggnog and surprisingly little herbs or wood. Super soft on banana, eucalyptus and wild flowers. Feel free to make that potpourri.

Nice and sweet and spicy on a cartload of baked apples, banana in the pan, white pepper, vanilla and cloves. Again, I really like this.

The finish is long, dark and sweet, but bright at the same time. Are you still following? Very satisfying in any case.

So much goodness for less than 70 EUR. No brainer, so I got it.

Nice review. I’ve been impressed with most of the spirits I’ve tasted from this young distillery.
