Another one of these malts in G&M’s Discovery Range, worth exploring (see what I did there?). Judging by the color, it was quite an active sherry cask.
Dark & sweet nose on mokatine, baked banana, vanilla and chocolate. Banana Split. Some soft spices, some leather, honey and a mildly herbal side. Very accessible.
The body is rather light, to be honest. Again banana, but quickly joined by darker fruit like figs and raisins, even some plums. Liquorice and ginger kick in. The chocolate returns. It is very nice, candy-like, dessert worthy, without standing out in any way, positive or negative. In that sense, it is well chosen for this series, of course.
The finish is rather short, sweet with a bitterness, but can not compete with either the nose or the palate of this malt.
A modern, sherry matured profile. Nothing wrong with that! Around 50 EUR.
