What do you feel are the most unique whiskys ... nothing else like it ... reasonably afforadable ... hopefully still available. Here are some of mine: Bruichladdich 14 Links K-Club (very bourbon-like), Ardmore Trad Cask (an intriquing Highland malt w/almonds & walnuts and sweet bacon smoke), Springbank 10 orange-border label (candy, zesty, complex, sweet bacon smoke ... close to its end), Bulliet bourbon (leathery, dry, tobacco, dignified).

@AboutChoice great discussion topic!

I really haven't ever had anything like the Connemara Cask Strength Peated Single Malt. It's so beautifully complex, and the palate transforms so rapidly. Admittedly, my taste buds aren't as experienced as others' on this site, but if there's something else out there like it, I'd be amazed (and interested).

One of the most unique whiskeys I have ever tasted was a young 9 year old peated Bunnahabhain from Signatory. Got it for a great price of around $40 at Binnys in Chicago, and loved every last drop if it. Picked up a few others at the time (The Peat Monster, Corryvrecken, and a 17 year old Bunna aged solely in Sherry casks from Malt Trust) and the young Bunna cask strength was by far my favorite.

Looks like a trip to Chicago is needed. @TheFitz, do you remember what you liked so much about the Sig Bunna Cask 9 ?

The character of the Bunna was wonderful. The thick texture of the Bunna was the first thing i noticed. Thicker on the tongue then say the traditional ten year Laphroaig cask or even the Corryvrecken.

Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey

So far, I have experienced nothing like Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey. It is a potent and creative hybrid, quite different from bourbon, Tennessee, Canadian, Irish and Scotch. Stranahan's is made from 100% roasted barley, using two types of stills, and aged in new charred oak barrels, in a temperature and humidity controlled environment. It is generally smoother than bourbon, but heartier than Irish.

I still have not identified its distinctive, intriquing and pleasantly novel flavor (maybe Greek brandy?). Maybe you can ? Watch for a full review soon.
