Nc'nean Organic Single Malt – Batch 8

Although I have a dram every single day, it's still hard to keep up with the pace of releases. At Nc'nean they are already at batch 15 or something, while today I open my bottle of Batch 8 for the first time. As always, it is a combination of 65% STR red wine barrels and 35% classic bourbon barrels. Again bottled at 46%.

Yes, that's clearly Nc'nean on the nose. The DNA of this young distillery is once again present with sweet malt, honey and a soft pepper. Very floral and beautiful touches of nougat. Hint of pomelo and even something of peach this time. Very accessible and pleasant.

The body is fine. The nougat and some citrus immediately return on the palate, supplemented with a little more pepper than I am used to from this house, but the malt handles it smoothly. Something of hazelnuts appears on the late side. Spring in my glass!

The finish is medium-long, pleasantly sweet and playful.

A pleasant daily sipper, if you ask me. And reasonably priced too.
