The Nobushi were elite warriors in feudal Japans that protected the villages and prefectures against warlords and their Samurai. In the bottle sits a blend, launched in 2017, composed of Japanse malt and grain whisky from Miyagi, Nagano and Hokkaido that all matured for a minimum of 4 years on former bourbon casks.

The nose is very floral and candy-like. Even a bit sallow. Overripe melon, violets (both the flowers and the purple candy), almond paste and dragon fruit. Hint of oak.

That all returns in full force on the palate, joined by lots of vanilla. Soft spices from the oak. Very candy-like now. A bit over the top, even. Litchi and pineapple join the fray. Blossoms. Manuka honey.

The finish is medium long on melon and some ginger.

Nothing fancy from Japan, to be honest. Just a nice summery dram. Thanks for the sample, Nadine.
