While the large quantities still come from Kentucky, we see distillery pop up all over the United States. This bourbon is produced by Peach Street Distillers, a micro distillery in Palisade, Colorado. They also produce vodka, gin, brandy and grappa. The bourbon was introduced in 2008. They use local, sweet corn from Olathe.

The nose is sweet with traits of citrus and pear. Gooseberry, even. Somewhat unexpected, but absolutely not unpleasant. Slightly sourish as in limoncello. A touch of tobacco. Round and creamy.

On the palate it is again creamy and very, very sweet. The fruit, that remains quite juicy, is upholstered by a lot of spices. Nutmeg, cinnamon, black pepper, cloves. That last the most.

The finish is short and clean.

This is a very accessible and somewhat a-typical bourbon, and thus very interesting in my book. Apparently, this is the only bourbon from Colorado. Well, they could have done a whole lot worse.
