I have a soft spot for Pittyvaich. This Speyside distillery, closed in 1993, now appears for three years in a row in these Special Releases. This time the malt was matured exclusively on first fill bourbon casks.

Rich sweetness of vanilla and white fruit, bay leaves (!), green banana, mango and the sap of – don’t laugh – green wood. Very creamy indeed. Absolutely grand nose!

Perfect drinking strength with banana, mango, apples and something like chalk. Again a fresh note of menthol. Some candied ginger and liquorice, but remains very fruity.

Medium long, very fruity finish.

Gotta have this one. Excellent!
