Hello guys, I go on asking questions for my Xmas whiskies! Now I've decided to buy only cask strenght expressions and already have talisker 57 and glenfarclas 105 on my list! Other suggestions? Something wrong with the two above? And above all, is HP Hjarta worth the 95 pounds of its price (it's 12 years old)?

You might consider adding the Connemara Cask Strength Peated Single Malt to your list. I think it's spectacular.

You cannot go wrong with the Aberlour Abunadh batches , they are great CS whiskies if your in to sherry casks. Very warm and mouthfilling, Affordable price as well

For a peaty alternative I would suggest a Lagavulin 12 year old release or a Laphroaig 10 yr CS, these are sublime

@lucadanna1985 Ardbeg Uigeadail is a must have. If you have the chance to have access to them, elements of Islay provides great whiskies, cask strength and a reasonable price.

@Kutter I had the luck to purchase a bottle some time ago, it's the stuff I take out for special days :) I would like something I can put aside that bottle :)

Why cask strength and not a single cask?

@SMWS I will go for a single cask at cask strength if I find it, any suggestion for a good highland park from your range? Or maybe some other Christmas delight?

@lucadanna1985 Glad you asked, we have a couple of outstanding malts from Distillery 4 hiding in our online shop at the moment, First, and we can't believe its not sold out yet, is 4.131 An artists' retreat - a Jim Murray Award winner last year. Its a 20YO ex-sherry butt with a gorgeous dark conker colour and amazing depth. Or there's 4.143 Honey on hot stones, another 20YO but this time from an ex-bourbon hogshead so lots of honey, rich toffee and notes of buttered toast.

We're getting carried away and it's only Friday morning. We've just released our BIG November Outturn (41 different single casks) so at the moment there's around 70 different single casks to explore!

I second Aberlour Abunadh, a lovely sherried whisky at cask strenght. I dont know if you are interested in bourbons but for my christmas i would like to get my hands on a bottle of Blantons Straight From The Cask... I have not tasted it, but since i love Blantons Gold im curious about the straight from the cask edition..

I very much enjoy Macallan Cask Strength, and then if you like bourbons, Noah's Mill and Bookers are worth seeking out.

I'm a big fan of the Longrow cask strength. Which reminds me, I have none in the cupboard. Time for my Christmas whisky order, methinks.

@SMWS Single cask relies on the cask, whereas as a cask strength whisky relies on the skills of the blender as well as the casks. Sometimes it's nice to have a bit of expertise help the casks along...

one of my purchases will definitely be Springbank Claret Wood Cask Strength! It's the same distillery as Longrow right? It should be the less peated expression, but finisihed for three years in claret wood before being re-barrelled for other 2 years!

I agree with Kutter: the Ardbeg Uigeadail is a must, but if you would like a good alternative - try Caol Ila Cask Strength. It is very exiting to try this by adding just a few drops of water at the time and check out wath you experience - brilliant.

I agree on the Aberlour A'bunadh and the Uigeadail. Two very good examples of how cask strength can elevate a whisky and both are very different from each other. A great spread! As far as the Hjarta, I will be getting that for Christmas this year so I can't comment yet, however, as soon as I get it I'll post my review.
