I would really recommend either the Suntory Hibiki 12 or 17 year old. Both are exceptional blends. I wrote a review on the 12 fairly recently. Trust me, you wont be disappointed. Both come in a 24 facetted decanters.

I think it may have been the Suntory Hibiki 12 year old I had... How different would the 17yr old be?

I am on my 5 bottle of 12 year old, my review gives you a better insight if you'd like to have a look. The 17 is a richer, more complex expression and has won many awards, as has its big brother the 21 year old. All 3 are materpieces. I recently introduced the whisky club I run to the 12 and they loved it. Personally, I would stick with the 12 year old. Sunshine in a bottle and very smoooooth.

If you're about to spend £ 100, please consider Hakushu 12yo / 18yo and Yamazaki 12yo / 18yo, all made by Suntory as well, but single malts. Or Nikka Miyagikyo.

Hi Guys, I recently had a really nice Japanese Whisky that was really smooth and not smoky at all, which I love. I'd like to get a bottle as a gift for a friend, but am struggling to remember the name. There's no way I'll know which one it was, so any recommendations at around the £100 mark?
