Nose: Leather, polish, chocolate, and some bbq. Altogether, this is a fairly complex blend, full of old and vivacious elements. A wave of red fruit - cherries and strawberries. Old, cared-for furniture and a little malty and smoky. Also a bit of old trees in a forest. Really just gorgeous.
Palate: Caramel, and a touch of smoke and peat. Old leather (polished), some coffee, a little chocolate, and wood. The old flavors re-emerge. Old, musty books. It's just fresh and lively. Bitter nuts (walnuts, almonds, and pecans) as well.
Finish: More on the coffee, polished leather, furniture, and a little bit of fruit and smoke. Every so often, something like lemon and kiwi. Very gracefully composed and a blend of obviously high quality components. I'd have loved to see how this could be at cask strength.
