@ScotchLoverAT, The Spice Tree is distinctive because of the usage of largely new oak aging, and particularly the use of CHARRED new French Oak on the barrel heads. The new oak contributes those intense spices in the whisky. There are currently rather few other malts which use new oak. One is Deanston Virgin Oak, which is relatively inexpensive, maybe $ 30 to $ 45. Another is Stanahan's Colorado (malt) Whiskey, which is probably $ 55-60, but difficult to find in many areas. You don't say where you are located, which makes it harder to help you, but you quote in dollars, so I am guessing you are in the USA. For USA info, check wine-searcher.com

Benromach Organic is aged in virgin oak, should not be too hard to find wherever you are. It's a very nice dram, not particularly complex but having said that, it's a very "full bodied" spirit with lots of oak influence and is very more-ish.

New member to the website and I was looking for assistance. I recently bought a bottle of Spice Tree and absolutely loved it. In addition to buying another bottle I wanted to find some similiar whiskey's in the 80 dollar and below price range ( Looking for a low/mid/high) options. I have gone through a lot of reviews to try to identify similiar types, but its a little overwhelming with the variety availabe.
Thanks!!
