I confess, I think this one has a fantastic label (as can be said as well of Jürgen’s recent releases of Miltonduff and Tobermory that took place simultaneously). And while the distillery is again unnamed, it leaves little to the imagination where this ‘Secret Orkney’ hails from, of course. Let’s sit down with this Highland Park.

Very cleane nose on white fruit and heather, but not much more and certainly no smoke. Have I just been lead astray with this Orkney? Really?

On the palate I get mostly white fruit, but now a nice slice of lime shines through and the smoke development because quite beautiful. Feels like pebbles in the mouth. A somewhat chalky structure. Quite nice.

The finish is outstanding. Warm, spicy, fruity and sweet and the smoke keeps lingering.

One that needs a bit of time, but is more than worth it. Thanks for the sample, Jeroen DV.
