Selfridges Whisky Month

My friend is a member of a mailing list from Selfridges regarding wine, and they carry out tastings on a regular basis. And in addition to that from the 23rd May until 19th June is their Whisky Month. A few tastings are being held, details taken from the email i was sent are below:

Oxford Street Seminar’s:

Thursday 26th May 6.30pm – 8.00pm Gordon’s Bar, 1st Floor Glenfiddich – A Vertical Tasting Glenfiddich is the only Highland single malt distilled, matured and even bottled at is own distillery, using a single source of spring water throughout the process. Ian Murray and Jamie Milne will be hosting this evening’s seminar taking you through the journey of whisky from the new make spirit through the different age statements, show casing the finest Glenfiddich has to offer. Whiskies being tasted TBC - but will include Glenfiddich New Make and then different age statements.

Thursday 2nd June 6.30pm – 8.00pm Gordon’s Bar, 1st Floor Suntory - An Evening of Japanese Whisky Japanese whiskies are firmly on the radar now with many of their whiskies now multiple-award winners. We are extremely excited to welcome Dr Inatomi – ex Master Blender – from Suntory to host this evening’s event and guide us on a fascinating journey into the heart of the industry, whilst tasting some amazing whiskies of course! Whiskies being tasted include: Hakushu 12yo, Hibiki 17yo and Yamazaki 12yo

Thursday 9th June 6.30pm – 8.00pm Gordon’s Bar, 1st Floor Discover the Art of Blending with Chivas. Phil Huckle, Brand Ambassador for Chivas, will be tasting through the Chivas Range but with a difference. We will also be trying some of the component whiskies that go into the blends that are not normally available to try. For blended whisky lovers this is an opportunity not to be missed. Whiskies being tasted include: Chivas Regal 12/18/25 plus 3 components which are not available on the market – 18yr old Grain whisky, 18yr old Longmorn & 18yr old Strathisla

Wednesday 15th June 6.30pm – 8.00pm Gordon’s Bar, 1st Floor The Most Expensive and The Rarest…….. Richard Paterson, Master Blender for Whyte and Mackay, is hosting a great opportunity to try the most expensive whisky and one of the rarest. Hear the story of The Dalmore and how it became the most expensive whisky ever sold; and discover the story of The Shackleton and the remarkable journey it made to and from the Arctic. Join us for an entertaining and informative evening with one the whisky world’s best experts. Whiskies being tasted include: Dalmore EOS and Shackleton

Oxford Street Whisky Show Thursday 16th June 6pm – 8pm

For the second year running we are proud to be hosting THE event for the whisky connoisseur – experts and representatives from over 10 different distilleries will be in store to take you on a tour round some the best distilleries there are. Come and sample some really spectacular whiskies – we’ve asked them all to bring along a bottle of something special for you to try – so come along and try limited editions, 30 year old and 40 year old whiskies not normally available for tasting. Distilleries at the event: Chivas, The Glenlivet, Glenmorangie, Dalmore, Compass Box, Johnnie Walker, Suntory, Glenfarclas, Balvenie, Glenfiddich and Glengoyne.

Good shout Al, I might be down in London for the first couple of events, might try and get to one.
