The Smooth Ambler 10 Year Old is a bourbon consisting of around 60% corn, 36% rye and 4% malted barley. So the mashbill is clearly different than their 7 Year Old that we tried before, where the emphasis was on rye. This one is a whole lot darker, by the way.

Well, the nose is even sweeter than the 7 Year Old. Loads of molasses with hints of red fruit. Quite creamy. Hints of whipped cream, in fact. But oh, so sweet, almost like a cherry liqueur.

It is also honeysweet on the palate. Red fruit on a bed of spices, undoubtedly from the rye. It even burns a little. Woodspices and loads of caramel. Sweet, sweeter, sweetest!

The emphasis is again on the spices in the long finish, turning into quite sharp chili pepper.

Oh, boy, my teeth almost fall out of my mouth. What a sweet Smooth Ambler indeed. Phew!
