A no age statement bottle initially matured in port wood then transferred to a larger refurbished cask (wood type unclear). Before being unveiled in 2010 where it won a MWSoA (Malt Whisky Society of Australia) Bronze medal
Nose: just a warning these are strange notes. Blackboard, waxed paper, and a sort of deep fried batter element. In more regular aromas, there is some toffee, leather and some sickly sweet sherry. With water much the same but spearmint comes to the fore, and the batter is a bit less prominent
Pallet: very oily texture, candied fruit again it’s sickly sweet and chewy, also some fresh dates. With water no real change
Finish: paper, almonds, wood spices, mint is back and some bitter (thank god) chocolate. With water no real change
Mark neat – 8.5, with water – 8.5
