Think of the bottle as a reward for doing a bit of OT at the office. That's what I do. A few years ago, I was thinking in terms of bottles for what I was doing at work. I even taught an extra class here and there (I'm a professor) in order to indulge my taste for fine scotch. These days, I've gotten over that crush a bit. Then again, I still have a few bottles salted away. As for plunking down $500+ on a bottle of Sprinbank 25, I probably won't go that high in price again for some time. I would imagine that it would cost even more than that in the US market. But, oh, to taste such a masterpiece. Ah, that would be magnificent. Well done, Nemesis.

If you can afford it, go for it. I doubt you'll regret it. It's not like these kinds of drams pop up every day, after all.

You can still find Highland Park 25 YO at the old higher cask strength for a decent price in some out of the way shops. That's worth snagging, as well, and it's considerably less expensive than Springbank's 25.

This is a malt due for release next month as I understand. I had a small preview sample of it at Manchester Whisky Festival last week and it truly is the most breathtaking whisky I have ever tried. It really does better my previous two favourites, (Bowmore 25 and the legendary Airigh Nam Beist) into 2nd and 3rd place.
It has gone through Bourbon cask, two sherry casks and Port pipe Maturation. Whilst this might sound a bit OTT, trust me it works very well. The guys at Springbank have really excelled with this one. Unfortunately at a release price of £350 and just 800 bottles for the UK market, (not sure on US or other territory release numbers) I think that is the one and only sample I'll be trying.
However for those who have the coin and like Springbank's style, this is an absolute gem and I cannot recommend it highly enough. I am so so tempted just to whack it on a credit card bill.
