I was fortunate to try this Private Bottling a few weeks ago in a fabulous tasting with Michiel Wigman and Jeroen Koetsier. So once it became available to the public, I hurried to secure a bottle. It’s a fresh sherry hogshead. Brace yourself, for it’s a belter as the logo – reminiscent of the son of Krypton – suggests. ‘Nuff said.

Dark and sweet nose on chocolate with praline filling, figs and dates in hessian cloth. Some pebbles. Wet earth. The typical chalk I often find in Springbank is there too. Lots of hazelnuts. Some Turkish Delight. Nicely old school and very yummie nose.

Oh, oh, oh!!! Dark fruit, gym sneakers, (good) rubber, peat, heather, pebbles in a stream, cold Turkish coffee, hazelnuts, the works! Did I mention old school and super? I gladly repeat it.

Very long and satisfying finish with lots of herbal and earthy notes that show the fruity notes who is king.

A Super Dram! Oh, look, this is the 50th Springbank I try. Nice. My autistic side likes this kind of nonsense.
