Glenmorangie 10yo Original. Light, floral and malty. A very nice entry malt.

Scotch: I'm a fan of anCnoc 12 year-old; perfect in hot weather. You might also look into Tomatin 18 year-old and Compass Box Hedonism;

Irish: I like single pot still whiskies (whither the "pure" pot still?) like Redbreast 12 year-old and Green Spot;

Canadian: Forty Creek Confederation Oak Reserve or Caribou Crossing; and

American: wheated bourbons like Pappy Van Winkle 15 year-old, Old Weller Antique 107º, Parker's Heritage Collection 10 year-old. Speaking of wheat, Bernheim Straight Wheat Whiskey would work, too.

I prefer most of the Irish Whiskies (not Connemara) and Auchentoshan

Dalwhinnie 15, Compass Box Asyla, Aberlour 10, Macallan 10 Fine Oak, Johnnie Walker Gold, Johnnie Walker Blue, and Tullamore Dew would all work for me in the warmer weather.

@dbk, yes, Bernheim Wheat Whiskey would make quite a good summer drink.

I second Victor's mention of Dalwhinnie 15, also, I'm thinking about Balvenie 21 year Portwood, any of the older Taliskers, and of course Highland Park (though I do tend to save that one for the Fall). Another option for the summer is to find a nice cognac; Pierre Ferrand perhaps.

Hey, California, Arizona, Florida, etc, members, do you drink "summer whiskies" all year round ? :-) Is this an issue ... how do you handle this ?

Re @dbk's wheat flavour suggestions, summer would also be an excellent time to drink any stocks you might have of "Lot B" Van Winkle 12 yo Special Reserve Bourbon, or Old Rip Van Winkle 45% ABV.

@AboutChoice In California, we got swim-up-bars. lol. But, you're right. It is difficult to enjoy whisky when its 109deg outside. Personally, I drink tequila/margaritas or gin during the day and end the evening with a dram of Glenkinchie 20.

@AboutChoice I'm form Phoenix and... yea I basically drink Summer whiskies all year round. I was drinking anCnoc and Glenmorangie Original in January ahaha but I drink the winter whiskies basically year round too (as I tend to like them a bit better) but in the Summer, when it hits 115F (46C) in the day time, I wait for the Uigeadail and A'bunadh til the evening.

@AboutChoice, I'm from Florida and I don't really drink any "summer wiskys". I will put one small ice cube in my scotch though, since it's mostly hot and humid here in South Florida. We really don't have a winter like most areas.

Have just returned from Dubai, and it doesn't get much more "Summery" than it is there at the moment. Tomintoul 16 by night was just the ticket.

Hey guys, quick question (Don't want to start a new thread)... Highland park 12 , Springbank 10, or Glenfarclas 12 ... which one tonight/tomorrow? Thanks...

And as for a summer whisky... I think carganmore 12 would be great!

how about an old fashioned with johnnie walker red -- teaspoon of sugar saturated in bitters dissolved in a splash of water - add ice and the red label...

We did a session on Summer Whiskies at Whisky Squad last August - perhaps there's some useful pointers there?

whiskysquad.com/2010/08/…

It's worth mentioning - though it'll probably make some peoples' neck veins stand out with rage - that a popular thing in Japan at the moment is the Whisky HiBall (mixing whisky with soda), which you presumably wouldn't throw an intricate old rarity into, but would nevertheless be a nice refreshing summer drink that you can enjoy without having to furrow your brow & concentrate on at all.
