This Hakushu was bottled especially for the 10th Anniversary of Whisky Live in Japan. The cask was selected by none other than Dave Broom, so you can be assured that it will be good, right?
It is nicely sweet and mildly perfumy on the nose. All kinds of flowers, especially roses and lilies, and white fruit. A bit of vanilla that goes crescendo.
On the palate, I get the spices first (white pepper, ginger and vanilla) and then an explosion of sweet fruit, both orchard and exotic. Crystal sugar. Mildly grainy as well. Simple, but quite nice.
The finish is rather short, but a nice continuation of the nose.
A nice selection, unfortunately no longer available. Pops up in auctions now and then, though.
