Supersonic 7 Year Old 2013 ‘Mach 2’ Blended Malt North Star Spirits

Manny came to visit not so long ago and brought me a bottle of this Supersonic 'Mach 2'. Well, he shouldn't have done that, but I'm pretty glad he did. I had tasted the Supersonic 'Mach 4' a few months earlier and thought it was fine, so I was looking forward to this one. The difference in ABV is considerable. This is 10% lower at 50% ABV. That's not a punishment. It is also significantly lighter in color.

Freshly ground coffee, milk chocolate with praline filling, orange peels and caramel galore. That's the nose of this Supersonic in a nutshell. In addition, some plum jam and mocha. Pleasant.

The body is a bit on the light side, I have to say. But in terms of taste, it's good, though. Quite a lot of caramel, orange, blueberries and rhubarb jam. A slight bitterness as from the skin of walnuts. I do like this.

The finish still offers some cherries and herbs. A hint of hazelnuts. Gently drying.

Great whisky, though. But again goes down so dangerously easy that it becomes a card players’ whisky. Oh, well, it's very affordable, so no problem.
