Nose: fruity, dense. Moist Christmas cake. Some fresh oak in there along with the cherries and dates. A bit of cinnamon. Reminiscent of fine brandy. Some dark chocolate notes after adding water. Deep and complex.

Taste: hot on the tongue, yet doesn't taste overwhelmingly of alcohol. A big burst of flavour delivers fruit along with peanut brittle and candle wax. Water brings out the malt flavour.

Finish: a tad sour. Cocktail cherries.

Balance: a big, strong sherry bomb which doesn't quite hit the heights of Aberlour a'bunadh but comes close. A nice, rich whisky which should appeal to fans of cask strength sherried Speyside malt.

I really like this one, liked Deanston 10 PX a little more because of the $44 less price tag. Nice review.

@Astroke Thanks, I got mine at 30% off so that didn't hurt one bit. Can't say I'm a Deanston fan but that PX does sound enticing.

@Megawatt Thanks to the inept LCBO they listed the Deanston 10 PX as the 46.3% version and priced it accordingly. Fortunately it was the limited to 5160 bottles cask strength at 57.5% which retailed for about 100 euros. Recently I was able to get 2 Caol Ila 18 unpeated cask strength bottles for $102 each at the LCBO when they hit the shelves for the 2012 Caol Ila 18 price. Never even made it to the online inventory.
