Tasting Rituals

Since I began developing a larger interest in the actual tasting part of whisky drinking I've found myself doing rather strange stuff whenever opening a new bottle and sitting down with a new whisky. I tend to drink whisky when of course I'm in the mood, I'm feeling well and it's a good day. Then I try to fix the setting with maybe some soothing music or a nice open fire in the fireplace. I also tend to sit in the same chair and placing the bottle and glass on the same table. I also try to calm myself down so that I'm in the right place to actually make the most of the whisky.

I know you got em, now be good boys and girls and hand them over!

Great post @ClanVidela but there's actually another thread that was up just a little while ago about the same topic. Anyway, at the moment I'm watching a great talk by Tariq Ali and enjoying some Ardbeg 10. Good times!

@CanadianNinja sounds relaxing! It's interesting the whole relationship between drinking and thinking. You know the old saying that the best ideas are developed over a cup of coffee, not true. A dram of fine whisky now that will get you brainstorming for sure! At least the ideas will seem indefinitely bright at the moment. ;)
