"You can't stand on one leg," they must have thought at The Nectar. In addition to the Teeling on a rum cask, Belgian importer The Nectar also selected this cask at Teeling at the beginning of 2021 to celebrate their 15th anniversary. It is a single malt that after 15 years of maturation got a finish on a Brandy cask. I think that's very interesting.

I am surprised by the youthfulness of this nose. Smells relatively young. Perhaps the playful element that is delivered by the cask. Chestnuts, nuts, apples and some notes of hay. Pleasant, but as far as I'm concerned not (yet) earth-shattering.

On taste it is better than the nose promised. Powerful start with a lot of pepper and wood shavings, but nicely complemented with notes of apples and banana, supplemented with grapes and hazelnuts. Gradually it becomes brighter, if you know what I mean. Then the brandy really shines through nicely and it gives this whisky more depth and makes it very satisfying.

The finish is slightly drying and particularly long. Makes you long for the next sip.

Excellent selection of the girls and boys from Zolder. Thanks, Benny.
