Teeling 32 Year Old

A Teeling of no less than 32 years old... It matured on a combination of rum casks and PX sherry casks. Only 750 bottles came on the market. The price tag is exuberant: 2,500 EUR. I'm going to sit down for this.

The nose is a beautiful combination of almonds, peach and apples on the one hand and coconut on the other, a hint of banana and nectarines. Deliciously tropical with a soft spiciness. Vanilla should of course not be missing.

It is nice and oily and full-bodied, but less sweet than expected. In addition to banana and peach, I now also get some pineapple and apricots. The influence of the PX quickly becomes unmistakable. Yes, the PX is boss! The spiciness increases hand over hand and quickly makes you forget that it is bottled at 'only' 46%. Honey and licorice in the background. A dash of peat smoke appears, I'm not kidding. Subtle and complex, this whiskey certainly is that.

The finish is long, sweet and spicy and absolutely amazing.

Excellent Teeling, so thank you Benny for the sample, but let's be honest... Too expensive.
