Teeling has already done some releases of their spirit matured in barrels from different breweries in the so-called Small Batch Series, but this one is of course very special for us, because Duvel is after all a very popular (and very tasty!) Belgian blond beer (and this circle has also been completed, because brewery Moorgat also launched the 7th edition of their Duvel Barrel Aged, which this time matured in Teeling barrels – of course we also tasted that as well).

Slightly rough nose on grain, malt sugars and applesauce, a slice of lemon and a hint of mint with another bitterness like sweet chestnuts.

On the palate it is first sweet, then bitter and then bittersweet. Clearly young and a bit sharp on white pepper. Relatively alcoholic for such a modest ABV. But the white fruit and chestnuts return and for a moment I think I even recognize Duvel. I know that this is more than likely between my ears, but I still find that a nice sensation.

The finish is medium-long, sharp and bittersweet with an astringent bitterness on the deathbed.

Nice Teeling, but a bit too sharp to be really top. Thx, Benny!
