A single cask pot still whiskey from Teeling, specially bottled for Belgium and Luxembourg exactly one year ago. On a virgin cask, which may have caused a lot of spiciness. And then that alcohol percentage... Where is my glass of water?
Oh, beautiful... The nose is particularly fruity and – as I suspected – deliciously seasoned. Fried banana, peach, mango, coconut, pineapple on the BBQ and hazelnuts, something that reminds me of nougat and a soft floral touch. In addition, something that reminds me of stout beer, really. The spices on duty are pepper, oregano and vanilla. Very round and rich and thoroughly Irish.
It comes in firmly, of course, but I don't feel the urge to add water to it. Great integration. And delicious continuation of the nose, supplemented with some grapefruit and walnuts, licorice and quinine. A very spicy fruit salad that does not burn, but does fizzle cozily. Delicious.
The finish can effortlessly compete with both the nose and the taste. It is also of top quality: spicy, long, warm and blissfully sweet.
That's a top release, really enjoyed it. And still available for about 90 EUR. Thanks, Benny.
