From a sample with 43% ABV. The Lost Distillery Company was established with the aim to recreate modern expressions of whiskies from long lost distilleries in Scotland. In order to come up with individual whisky profiles that are as authentic as possible, the team at The Lost Distillery Company has chosen an approach that combines meticulous historical research performed by archivists with the interpretation of modern-day whisky makers. The company uses neither chill-filtration nor caramel colouring as these techniques were unknown and not used within the whisky industry at the time. Their Auchnagie Blended Malt Scotch Whisky is the first release in the series and pays tribute to Auchnagie distillery that was located near Pitlochry in Perthshire and operated between 1812 and 1911 (for more, fascinating details check out the Lost Distillery Company’s website at www.lost-distillery.com/pages/auchnagie).

The nose is light and fruity and starts off with notes of vanilla, honey, and orange peel. Later on there are lovely ginger and cinnamon flavours, together with some biscuity notes.

The palate is medium-bodied and slightly spicy at the beginning, then becomes astonishingly fruity with oranges, apples and bananas all making an appearance, followed by ginger and lemon flavours.

The finish is of medium length, dry and spicy. Orange peel, ginger, as well as vanilla flavours are back and provide a well balanced ending.

This is a well balanced and delightfully fruity blend, both easy and refreshing to drink. Solid craftsmanship from the Lost Distillery Company!
