Hello all , I love reading the discussion board and everyone's opinion on our favorite hobby. I found an old webpage called The Millennium Malt Classification. It was created in 1999 to rank experts and amateurs view on scotch whisky distilleries. The Criteria was based on the quality of the malt , the consistency of the malts over time , and brand focus in the market place. the list was intended to bring together everyones views to assist consumers. I must admit it was how i selected my first malts and started collecting, Now we have this wonderful site and possibilities are endless. (Thanks whiskyconnosr)
I wanted to share the top ten of the whisky experts of the time 1) Highland Park , 2) Lagavulin,
3) Macallan, 4) Bowmore , 5) Springbank , 6) Ardbeg , 7) Balvenie, 8) Glenmorangie , 9) Laphroaig ,
10) Talisker
A very good list indeed: It is now 14 years later , My question is how do you view this list today and the rank , Is it accurate ? , have some distilleries risen and has some fallen of the top 10 list ? Would other distilleries outside of scotland crack this top 10 list?
