I wish. The only offering in Canada is in Calgary, Alberta. Sigh...It's only about 2,700km as the crow flies.

I joined earlier in the year after an open party at The Vaults in Leith, Edinburgh. I've opened up a few bottlings since them but I think the best I've had yet was on Saturday at the Edinburgh Whisky Stramash thewhiskystramash.com/edinburgh/. It's in June's Outturn, a 38yo Glen Moray which was amazing. I'd love to give you tasting notes, but we tried this at the end of the day and, well, after several hours sampling, I was getting forgetful. I just remember that it was our clear winner for dram of the day!

@SMWSAMERICA Not a member but going to my first society tasting tomorrow night - looking forward to it! Who knows, some time, if and when I can afford to be a member and buy society bottlings, I might consider becoming a member.

Not a member yet, but it's on the list of things to do! I've heard some awesome things about alot of the bottles. I've got way too many and sadly not enough whisky tastings going on over the next two weeks to be able to afford the whisky tasting they have coming up here in Perth, but I'd love to!

@cpstecroix Yeah, I'm in the same boat. If there was a Montreal branch, I'd be a member in a heartbeat.

Sorry to hear that. As our Society grows bigger and bigger in each branch every year, we hope that one day the Canada branch can fulfill your shipping needs in order to be a member. I am sure once they work out the liquor/shipping laws throughout the Canada branch, then they will be able to cover different parts of Canada. @chickenium @cpstecroix
@CJV8 Haha... we understand! After so many samples of Whisky, its hard to put the tasting notes into words. As I am looking at the June outturn for the UK .. it is showing me the Glen Moray offerings.. 35.64 "Eating Custard in an Old Jag" , 35.59 "Arabian Nights", and 35.57 "Egyptian Tobacco" . If you want to check out the tasting notes you can find them here.. smws.co.uk/whisky/…
@systemdown We hope you enjoy your first Society Tasting! Let us know how it goes!

We thank you for putting a membership into our society on your wishlist! Hopefully you get to join our wonderful world of Whisky soon! We have to admit, our offerings have the greatest names and tasting notes around! PRETTY AWESOME! @SquidgyAsh

Member since August 2007. Glad to be part of such an amazing group of people (both the society and on Connosr as well). Alan and his team in Florida are the best! Very friendly and their customer service is top shelf! I highly recommend the society to anyone interested in exploring single cask, cask strength whisky.

@SMWSAMERICA I've been reading lately that the federal government is about to abolish the law restricting the transport of alcohol for personal consumption between provinces.
Hopefully the provincial governments won't be utter dicks about losing tax revenue and the different liquor agencies will actually start competing with one another to bring all of Canada a better selection at better prices.
Then I'll be the happiest new SMWS member alive!

Unfortunatley, our social media rep was unaware we already had a profile on this site and started another. We are trying to delete the other one... Join us on this one! @ganagati

Recently did a three-parter on my site about the Canadian branch of the SMWS. For those curious as to what it's all about:

Have been very tempted to join for a while now with many friends telling me it is a great society. The problem I have is I cannot bring myself to pay the fee of £110 which only grants you access to the online range and a few smws bars located far away from myself. As I do not have a large disposable income to spend on drams it may be a few years yet and maybe a promotion before I can join the society.
I will be looking forward to sampling some of your Malts at the whisky show in London !

Been a member since Sept 2012. Sadly no tasting notes yet, and due to work schedule will not be able to attend Single Malt & Scotch Whiskey Extravaganza @ The Union League Club of Chicago on Oct 18. Work is a poor man made invention that for 8 to 10 hours aday deprives us from the enjoyment of Scotch.

@PMessinger All I can say my friend is "HELL YAH! Preach it brother!" I'm done now. I'll be good. Promises.

Work allows me to by Scotch but takes away valuable time to enjoy. Thanks for your kind words of support. :) @SquidgyAsh

Anyone a member of The Society? It could be in any branch.. Japan, India, America, UK, Canada, Australia... What bottles have you cracked open recently? What are some of the tasting notes?
