Try pouring some in a bottle with more air and perhaps even leave the cork off over the night. Aeration might be key. Just don't over do it!

Was not impressed with the bottle I had either, was a little closed a drop of water or 2 helped as does allowing time in both bottle and glass to open up. Both the 10 year and the A'bunadh are better value IMHO, not much price differential to the A'bunadh and the 10 I can normally pick up at around half the price and is a fantastic entry level sherry cask.
Strange how they give us exactly what we want higher ABV and NCF than standard bottling and I prefer the standard.

I have always been bored and underwhelmed by the the standard Aberlour 12 yo. This doesn't make me want to buy any 12 NCF either.
@Pete1969, I am with you in preferring the Aberlour 10 yo to the 12 yo,...by far.

And I thought ncf would give me more flavor. At the moment, there's only sherry in the nose, while the palate is numb and dead. I'll give it more open time as suggested and see what happens.

This bottle has been open since july of this year, and strangely, it still has a closed nose/palate, even with water added. Anyone have a similar experience with this bottle? Maybe more open time is needed, or maybe I have a bad batch? What say you?
