I am far from knowledgeable when it comes to Tomatin, as this is only the 13th one I am tasting. But this surely is one of the eldest I am trying. Only 103 bottles were produced by the Belgian bottler The Whiskyman, bottled especially for the Belgian club Fulldram.

Oh, my, this nose is very good. Blood oranges, grapefruit, raisins in syrup, eucalyptus, almond paste, milk chocolate and a teaspoon of molasses. Very spicy, but without a trace of oak. Waxy. Grassy. Nice!

It is soft an oily, almost syrupy, on the palate. The spices I get are heath bush and cardamom. Dark fruit à la plums! Melon and peach as well. Actually, quite tropical indeed. Some coffee, too. A hint of wine gums, but not quite. Very sweet.

This continues into the medium long finish that remains lively until the end.

This is quite different from the official bottlings that so enamoured me. Absolutely great Tomatin! If you can still find it: 185 EUR.
